Transportation
Various methods of transportation are used to bring clients to and from the Center.
Family members are the primary source of transportation for our clients. Some use Rural Transit or other van services.
In May of 2005, the Center received a beautiful new van through a grant program provided by the Ford Dealers of WNY. In May of 2009, we were very fortunate to also receive a wheelchair accessible van through the efforts of the Town of Wales, Town of Aurora and the Village of East Aurora. Funding was obtained through the Community Development Block Grant program. This van has a ramp and offers transportation to clients who are unable to manage steps due to physical and/or mental infirmities. We are pleased that we can offer van services to some of our clients within a 15 mile radius.
A fee is requested to assist in covering costs for gas and related expenses for each van and is based upon mileage.
These vans are also used for Field Trips as various outings are taken throughout the year. There are no transportation costs for these outings.
We are fortunate to have many volunteer drivers who have become a valuable part of our services. They are caring, experienced drivers and provide door-to-door services with a smile and cheerful attitude. Drivers are currently needed for Mondays, Tuesday afternoons and as substitutes. Please call 652-4269 if you can help in this way.
