FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does Medicaid, Medicare or my health insurance cover the cost at AADS?
Social day programs do not qualify to receive Medicaid or Medicare funds. However, individual clients may receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Medicaid funds but these monies are paid to the Center through Erie County Senior Services or a Long Term Home Health Care Agency (LTHHCA).
A person’s health insurance also is not applicable for this type of service.
If a person cannot afford the daily rate, it is suggested that families contact Erie County Senior Services (716) 858-8526 to inquire about financial support.
Does Long Term Care Insurance pay for AADS services?
There may be a few policies that provide some monies towards social day care expenses. However, individual policies must be carefully reviewed for this benefit.
What is the difference between a social day program and a medical day program?
Our social day program is focused on socialization, education, recreation, sensory and mental stimulation. Medical day programs, on the other hand, provide services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, social services and tube feedings in addition to socialization.
Is prior approval from a physician required?
Yes. Each person applying to AADS must have the approval of his/her physician prior to being accepted into the program by the Administrator and on a yearly basis. The History & Physical form is one of several forms that must be completed as part of the admission process.
